The Pincher permanently fastens insulation to sheet metal in the fabrication of ductwork. Driving the tapered teeth into the softer metal causes the point to take a permanent set. Fasteners withstand a tensile pull of 80-120 pounds in sheet metal. To properly attach Pinchers to sheet metal, a hardened steel backer must be used as work surface at all times. A pre-attached cap holds the liner firmly in place and prevents insulation from pulling loose or delaminating. Pinchers can be used in conjunction with adhesives on any galvanized sheet metal with lockforming qualities of 26 gauge and higher.
